The crystallization of the Cu-Zr glasses has been studied by Dynamic Temperature X-ray Diffraction (DTXD) and Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA). The rules relating the crystallization diagram to the phase diagram are likely to apply to metallic glasses in general. The activation energy for diffusion, DELTA E//D, is about 3 eV and seems independent of the concentration. The activation energy for crystallization is DELTA E//c//r congruent DELTA E//D for the first crystallization product; this value is, however, obtained in cases of single phase crystallization only, while for polyphase crystallization, higher DELTA E//c//r, up to 5. 5 eV, are found due to the method used to determine DELTA E//c//r.
