摘要：
The propagation of a shock wave is treated in a binary mixture of monatomic gases in which the mean velocities of the component molecules are not the same. Under certain conditions rarefaction shock waves can exist. If the difference between the mean molecular velocities for the lighter and heavier components is directed against the motion of the front, compression shock waves can only occur at high strength.
