A semi-standardised system for construction of customised seating is presented. It is based on the production of a plaster cast from impressions of the individual made by vacuum extraction/consolidation in a pliable bean bag unit. Flexible polyurethane foam delivered in liquid form is used for the chair body, which is fitted with a vacuum formed liner of expanded polyethelene/EVA foam - Evozate. The finished chair is fitted to a standardised chassis base. Alternative methods using Hexcelite orthopaedic bandages, and the Matrix Seating system are also briefly discussed.
