A quality phosphate coating on steel or galvanize adds a tremendous improvement in corrosion resistance as measured by salt spray testing. An in-depth look at how certain types of phosphate conversion coatings, in combination with different types of final sealing rinses, perform under water-borne coatings is provided in this article. Results of the tests involving various pretreatments on steel are given.
