摘要
The deposition of latex particles has been studied in an impinging jet cell, which provides well-controlled hydrodynamic conditions, covering a wide range of flow intensities with Reynolds numbers Re in the range 20-1600. For Re APP GRTH 350 instabilities of the flow occurred and the coating was found to be non-uniform, in contrast to even deposition observed for less intense flows. A fairly good agreement was found between experimental and calculated values of the Sherwood numbers (dimensionless deposition rates) for regions near the symmetry axis in the entire range of flow intensities studied. The nature of the deviations from nonuniformity observed for large Reynolds numbers indicates that aging can play an essential role in the coating process.
