XONICS ELECTRON RADIOGRAPHY FOR INDUSTRIAL NDT APPLICATION.

Since the introduction of Xonics Electron Radiography (XERG) a new electrostatic imaging process has been available which has proven to have significant potential for industrial radiographic applications. XERG images have been evaluated for inspection of various materials ranging from dense graphite (low atomic number) to 1 in. steel weldments. Using recently developed perceptibility enhancement techniques, approximately 0. 1% penetrameter sensitivity has been demonstrated for most NDT applications. This capability, coupled with other electrostatic analog image enhancement procedures such as edge enhancement, contrast enhancement and secondary radiation suppression have made XERG an optimum technique for industrial radiography.
