The resonance Raman scattering of light from photonic band-gap (PBG) materials consisting of Rayleigh and Stokes components and band-gap frequency was studied. Rayleigh and Stokes components were separated in frequency and depended on atomic form factor and on the self-energy. A photon incident on an unexcited atom may be scattered in the Rayleigh channel or in the Stokes channel preserving its frequency. The Rayleigh and Stokes lines were changed as transition frequencies in the continuous spectrum were shifted to the upper photonic band edge.
