Polyolefines and other polymers have to be pretreated for improving their adhesivity. The low pressure glow discharge modification is well-known for promoting the adhesion properties. Nevertheless, some details of chemistry and physics of the mechanism are unknown up to now. The presented atmospheric pressure plasma pretreatment yields in similarly high adhesion values. However, this method possesses a higher reaction rate, is better to handle for robotic applications and its investment costs are lower than those of glow discharge vacuum equipment.
