Electromagnetic wave propagation on a helical tape wound on a dielectric coated metallic cylinder is analyzed and the dispersion, wave impedance and attenuation constant are obtained. The phase velocity is found to depend on the pitch angle, dielectric constant epsilon // tau and thickness of the dielectric layer. These factors also affect the wave mode.
