Theoretical prediction of disc brake temperatures and a comparison with experimental data

摘要
The temperatures attained in vehicle disk brakes under specified operating conditions have been predicted using laboratory- determined heat dissipation coefficients, in conjunction with a finite element numerical method. Further work is needed to determine the effect of dirt shields and vehicle bodywork on the relationship between behicle speed and effective crossflow velocity at the brakes.
