The role of nonmagnetic Li impurities for flux pinning and magnetic relaxation of melt-processed YBCO was investigated. The Li additions acts as effective pinning centres in intermediate magnetic fields. It was observed that the volume pinning force of doped materials at Li concentration was about five times that of undoped YBCO in intermediate magnetic fields at 77 k. The pinning parameters show enhancement of the current critical density in the optimally doped sample. The magnetic relaxation measurements combined with B-T phase diagram provides evidence of elastic-plastic tarnsition.
