摘要
The design features and manufacturing methods used for fabrication of large size (240 ft**2) cover steel mold forms for production of hybrid advanced composites are given in detail. Tooling for graphite-epoxy large spars (25 feet long) of varying cross-section that permit highly accurate molded parts are discussed. Tooling required for non-destructive testing of composite components are given. Finally, assembly fixtures are reviewed with special attention on tooling and methods for semi-automatically drilling highly accurate holes for attachment.
