Two and a Half Years' Experience with the 3000 t/day Dopol Kiln with Planetary Cooler at the Schelklingen Plant.

The preparatory processing of the raw material is outlined, and the kiln plant described. The operating experience gained with the kiln and its firing over a period of about 2 one-half years at the present 85-90% level of operational availability is reported, with particular reference to problems associated with the planetary cooler. The internal fittings installed in the tubes of the cooler are described, and the information gained from operating experience with the system, and the modifications resulting therefrom, are presented. Experience with the refractory lining in the tubes with their internal fittings and their bends is reported. The cooling effect itself is dealt with.
