Shirting weight fabrics of woven 100% cotton, 100% polyester, polyester/cotton or polyester/rayon blends and knitted 100% nylon were exposed to an electric hot plate surface with temperatures of 700, 950 and 1100F. No flaming ignitions were obtained with any of the fabrics when the burner surface was 700F. The results at higher temperatures indicate that polyester, and nylon fabrics and relatively immune to ignition around an electric plate.
