Summary form only given. A correlation between the permalloy film B-H characteristics, the Co-Cr film perpendicular orientation, and the recording density characteristics of Co-Cr/Ni-Fe double-layer perpendicular recording media has been discovered. It was found that, when the Co-Cr layer is well aligned, there are fewer constraints on magnetization in the Ni-Fe layer so that better recording density characteristics are obtained.
