摘要：

The paper suggests a practical method to evaluate optimal capacitive compensation desired for the distribution feeders from the point of view of minimization of losses and maintaining voltage profile within the permissible limits. Various types of compensation like shunt, series and a combination of these two are investigated. A two level optimization approach suitable for practical power distribution networks is proposed. The method is illustrated with a numerical example.
