By forming a polymer composite from polyvinylchloride (PVC) as the matrix and imbedded polypyrrole, polymer films with good electrical conductivity ( sigma congruent 10 ohm** minus **1 cm** minus **1) and mechanical properties similar to those of PVC can be obtained. PVC is one of the most versatile polymers produced by the chemical industry, because of its attractive mechanical properties. The concept of a PVC/polypyrrole (PPY) composite allows the combining of the electrical properties of PPY with the mechanical properties of PVC.
