Mannesmannroehren-Werke AG, Dusseldorf, a leading manufacturer of seamless rolled and welded tubes in Germany, has substantially rationalized the repair and finishing of shaping tools and auxiliary equipment for tube production through the combination of a modern CNC (computer numerical control) machine and Amborite polycrystalline CBN (cubic boron nitride) tooling. Practical advantages of Amborite tooling are discussed in this article with emphasis on time and cost savings.
