A very brief account is given of a new, improved method for construction of a marine natural gas pipeline under ice-covered waters. Developed by the Polar Gas Project, this method will be applied to cross the M'Clure Strait between Melville and Victoria Islands in the Canadian High Arctic. The so-called ″ice hole bottom pull″ method uses pull units mounted on the ice above ice holes. These pull units advance the pipe strings across the channel.
