Several methods are known for the minimal time optimal control of linear, steady coefficient systems. The majority of these methods can, however, hardly be applied with multivariable systems. One of the generally valid technologies for a defined task is based on an exponential matrix function. The method is known in literature. It can be refined though and some limitations reduced, applying the matrix function definition worked out by the author. This solution of minimum time control can become an up-to-date, widely applicable chapter of mathematical control theory. Instead of actual examples, the article contains an analysis: summaries, proposals and research trends. In addition to methodological considerations, fields of application are investigated, too, e. g. , the minimal time optimal control of cranes and robots.
