A finite element procedure analyzing the collapse load of framed structures has been developed. Since the underlying computations are quite tedious with a desk calculator the scheme is best suited for digital computations even on small machines. The method is quite new and proves to be very advantageous because of the comparatively short time it requires on the computer for a complete static analysis of a given structure.
