The Lombard plant currently applies only liquid coatings. The main types are bonded solid lubricant coatings containing fluorocarbon, molybdenum disulfide or graphite. These Everlube, Electrofilm and Microseal coatings are designed to provide extensive wear resistance. Various types of other coatings also are applied. These include urethanes and epoxy topcoats. A car door push-button combination lock receives Summar, a low-gloss urethane, over a chromate. A car mirror adjuster knob gets a coating of epoxy. A food augur is given a high-gloss urethane. Urethane has some release capability and good appearance characteristics.
