It is shown that one of the main methods of increasing the productivity in oxygen cutting of sheet steel is increasing the intensity of the oxidation process. This can be achieved by reducing the thickness of the primer layer deposited on the steel surface to protect it against corrosion; removing rust, scale, and other contaminants from the surface of the metal to be cut; increasing the oxygen purity, and protecting the jet from contamination with the products of combustion and the surrounding air (oxygen screen); and improving the gas dynamic characteristic of the jet of cutting oxygen.
