Argon- atomized prealloyed powders of a nickel- base superalloy composition, which is precipitation- strengthened by the body- centered- tetragonal U- Ni//3Ta phase, have been consolidated by extrusion. Subsequently, thermomechanical and aging treatments cause this P/M superalloy to exhibit high strength at 1200 F without loss of ductility. Thin foil microsocpy observations of the microstructure are correlated with the mechanical properties.
