摘要：

A decade ago, many predicted that stone groundwood was on its way out as a method for making mechanical pulp. A number of significant improvements have been made in the process, however, raising efficiency and pulp quality, and today the future of this process is seen as quite secure. Results of latest research and development results are reviewed and critically evaluated. Some new stone grinders operating on automatic bars are described.
