Methods are reviewed for incorporating design features beneficial to safety while improving efficiency of the drawing processes for carbon steel wire. In particular, take-up and pay-off equipment is discussed in detail and the author points out that the responsibility of guarding wire drawing machines often rests upon the user. Also covered are cranes, emergency stops, blowers, wiring, identification, timers and counters and provision for running without using all the blocks.
