Ethanol is involved in many manufacturing systems, especially in the food and drink industries, in either raw or finished products; consequently, quantitative ethanol measurement is of considerable industrial interest. This area of gas analysis represents a continuing challenge to the scientific community and, in particular, the instrumentation industry. This review covers those areas where ethanol and, in some instances, methanol monitoring is of interest in industry.
