Navarro et al. have proposed a triple-detector-array system for plasma tomography which enables the m equals 2 island structure to be reconstructed without the assumption of rigid rotation. However, the quality of the reconstructed image is not very good in their method. This paper reports that the spurious oscillation in the inverted iamge is diminished by the use of a smoothing technique. A triple-detector-array system is proposed to obtain the m equals 2 island structure in a tokamak plasma without assumptions concerning the plasma rotation. A. M. Cormack's inversion with smoothing is essential for this reconstruction.
