Measurement facilities manufactured by industry for the method of referring the numerical value of the quantity being measured to an integrating method, have special switches, as a rule, that permit setting up the necessary measurement time. Among these are electronic-counter frequency meters, amplitude spectrum analyzers, etc. The measurement time must be chosen correctly when using these devices to measure time-varying signals in order to obtain minimal error. Questions of determining the optimal measurement time of a running nonstationary signal amplitude spectrum are examined in this paper; however, all the relationships and fundamental deductions obtained can be used to measure analog signals of different physical nature.
