摘要:
The Kinda Dam hydroelectric power plant was commissioned at the end of 1985 after a construction period of just under five years. It is part of a multi-purpose project built for the Electric Power Corporation and financed by the World Bank and the Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau. In January 1986 the plant, which is Germany's major development aid project for Burma, was visited by Dr. Richard von Weizsaecker, President of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Kinda Dam storage reservoir was built to afford protection against flooding in the rainy season and for irrigation of wide areas of land for more intensive rice cultivation, since the severe seasonal water shortage is a problem in the dry zone of central Burma.
