Results of simultaneous use of the sticking moire method and the photo elastic method are illustrated by data for araldite specimens with circular cut-outs subjected to tension. Densities of gratings and specimen thickness were selected so as to obtain similar densities both of isochromes and of moire streaks. In computing of strains, the direct data from each of the methods were taken. The normal strains were determined by displacements whereas the shear strain was determined by displacements and isochromes simultaneously. Such a procedure simplifies data analysis and improves the precision of the strain evaluation.
