摘要
One hundred and seventy-seven incised and 217 non-incised Class 4 and Class 5 distribution poles of white spruce and red spruce treated with either pentachlorophenol-in oil (PCP) or with ammoniacal copper arsenate (ACA) were examined during summer 1981 to assess the severity of checks, shock resistance (toughness), moisture content as well as the pathological condition. The poles had been in service in 6 areas in Eastern Canada since spring or summer of 1980. Toughness examinations using the Pilodyn showed that PCP-treated poles were appreciably less tough than all ACA-treated poles. ACA-treated white spruce poles installed in Quebec and Ontario were less tough than ACA-treated red spruce poles in service in three areas in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
