In this article the term exoelectron is used in a generic sense and the various types are classified as TSEE, PSEE, and dark emission. This chapter is restricted to exoelectron emission from metallic materials. A number of new developments which have clarified some aspects and demonstrated potential applications in nondestructive testing. In particular, PSEE has been developed into both a new form of electron microscopy of metal deformation and a technique for assessing the onset and development of fatigue damage. Thus in this review exoelectrons are considered in a new light, namely as the basis of new research tools in the field of nondestructive testing.
