To increase the lifetime of shearing dies the authors developed a solid lubricant based on caprolactam and the hydroxide of a soft metal which tends toward complex formation and, as a result of tribotechnical conversions in the surface contact zone, achieves a selective transfer effect. The use of pastes based on solid lubricants of this type as process lubricants for separating operations permits a reduction in wear of the working parts of the dies in comparison with industrial oil IS-20, and also eliminates the defects characteristics of fretting corrosion. The use of an ordered regular microrelief on the working surfaces of the shearing dies, in the form of projections, depressions and sinusoidal channels oriented in the direction of material flow, combined with effective process lubrication increases their wear resistance. 9 Refs.
