The applicability of the alkaline roasting and leaching technique has been investigated using sodium carbonate or sodium chloride as reactant. Factors such as the anion species in the sodium salts, concentration of reactant, temperature and time of roasting, particle size, amount of water in the charge and time of leaching were studied. The practicability of recovering V//2O//5 from leach solutions containing chromium, aluminum, iron, silicon and sodium is considered.
