摘要
Cotton print cloth was crosslinked with dimethyloldihydroxyethyleneurea (DMDHEU) or 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) by conventional pad-dry-cure procedures to give it easy-care properties. The treated fabrics' abrasion resistance was evaluated by standard tests and by observing damage to collars and hemmed edges during repeated washing and tumble drying. Fabric treated with BTCA and sodium hypophosphite resisted abrasive damage during laundering somewhat better than did DMDHEU-finished fabric with equivalent resiliency and durable-press performance. Addition of triethanolamine to BTCA formulations improved the treated fabric's abrasion resistance at the cost of some decrease in resiliency and durable-press performance. Addition of triethanolamine hydrochloride did not improve abrasion resistance. Addition of a polyethoxylated quaternary ammonium salt improved the abrasion resistance of DMDHEU-finished fabric, but yellowed it.
