Definition of a simplified method of simulating the considered system and the process whereby it is developed is an essential requirement for any theoretical study of an electrical network. Models used for this type of investigation show both advantages and drawbacks, which can be listed with a view to defining basic rules for representative modeling. Representation based on statistical determination of specific parameters has been found to provide a suitable model for medium-voltage overland systems. A modeling example along these lines is described, showing its use for specific rural network investigations.
