Coatings applied to D6AC and Maraging 200 CVM steels from the alkaline solution and some acid solutions exhibited good adhesion with no post-plating heat conditioning treatment. For other acid solutions the marginal adhesion can be adequately improved by post plating heat conditioning treatment. In general, the higher the temperature, the more adherent the treated electroless nickel coating. Salt spray corrosion resistance and Falex endurance limits are both adversely affected by higher temperature heat conditioning whereas Taber abrasion resistance is improved by heating.
