摘要
Abrasive conditioning of carbon steel, previously confined to stainless steel mill products because of economics, is now feasible. Factors to be considered are head load, traverse speed and wheel speed. Optimum costs were achieved with a wheel speed of 16,150 sfpm, traverse rate of 120 fpm and head load of 800 lb. Under these conditions, metal removal costs were computed as being 1. 70 cent per cu in. Research is also being conducted with a segmented wheel, operated experimentally at 17,000 and 25,800 sfpm.
