摘要
This advanced local traffic signal controller has a number of advanced functions to meet the need of traffic control in Japan. Conventional signal controllers use a special LSI system which controls the signals according to commands from a control center. However, in this new controller a host microprocessor is used to control the LSI and thereby achieve greater functionality. In addition to allotting various vehicle-actuated operations to the terminals, it also has a learning function so that it can continue operations in case of line trouble. To ensure reliability, it has a hierarchical structure that permits basic remote operation by the LSI, should the microprocessor malfunction.
