The completion of a NOK 90 million overhaul of PM 6 at its Saugbrugs mill in Halden, Norway, by Norske Skog is discussed. The rebuild was aimed at improving the quality of supercalendered paper produced on the unit and has not affected the machine's 300,000 tonnes/yr capacity. The work was carried out during an extended maintenance shutdown over nine days and PM 6 came back on stream on March 25, 2004. The new instrumentation and controls for the unit's three supercalenders were supplied by Honeywell.
