Waxes for the investment casting process, (Modellmassen fuer das Feingiessverfahren)

This is a survey of the chemical composition of the types of wax used in investment casting and of the specifications for such waxes. They are low heat capacity, a wide solidification range, high fluidity, finely crystalline structure, low shrinkage, low ductility, sufficient dimensional stability, and no ash formation. Eventual complete replacement of natural waxes by specially designed synthetics is expected.
