An attempt is made to evaluate the gain from varying the rate of operations through the number of saved wells. This problem is solved by finding out the dependence of the number of wells spent for the exploration of a single area (Na) and prospecting of one field (Nf) on the number of simultaneously operating rigs ( eta ) on one object (number of simultaneously sunk independent wells). For the USSR as a whole these relations, on an average, have the following form: N//a equals 2. 05 plus 1. 73( eta //a minus 1); Nf equals 8. 15 plus 3. 59( eta //f-1).
