The concrete preparing process of metallic self-supporting target foils made from the rare-earth elements Nd, Yb, La, Tb, Gd by using the rolling method was described with its target foils characteristics analyzed and the preservation condition of target foils discussed based on the experimental results. Nowaday, the self-supporting targets made from the Nd, Yb, La, Tb and Gd have been successfully fabricated and used in the experiments of new nuclide synthesis, besides, their oxidation under different conditions was also experimentally investigated.
