The development of heat transfer models increases with the rising number of applications of mini and micro heat exchangers. The governing equations differ from those used for the design of ordinary evaporator channels. Changed conditions at the start of boiling can be observed in comparison to normally dimensioned evaporator channels. The level of knowledge in the field of modeling of single-phase convection and flow boiling in microchannels is given. The wall temperature of an evaporator channel is measured in a quasi-continuous and noncontact way and the heat transfer coefficient is calculated from this. The method is used in particular for the investigation of the onset of nucleate boiling in minichannels.
