摘要
The manufacture of threads is among the most important production processes in the field of metal cutting, and yet their machining is still to large extent carried out with tools and cutting conditions which have already been in widespread use for decades. It was not until recently that trends such as dry or high-speed machining have come into the reckoning. Taking thread manufacture from magnesium as an example, this article points out the potential behind drill thread milling as compared with conventional machining methods. Concrete examples are used to show how production times can be reduced, and thus how productivity and efficiency can be increased.
