The implications for a multi-disciplinary approach to telecommunication engineering education and this network as a 'mind-brain', are discussed. Managing complexity in telecommunication engineering is about the ability to deal effectively with variety in the internal and external environment. The telecommunication engineers are grappling with the diverse range of issues that confront them with the implementation of the dual convergence between fixed and mobile networks, and voice and data networks. The law-makers are also rewriting laws that will allow the convergence networks to be used as means to economic growth, poverty eradication, and to stimulate a latest wave of innovation.
