H-type amphiphilic block copolymers, PSt2-PEG-PSt2, are designed and synthesized. Macroinitiator prepared by the esterification between poly(ethylene oxide) (PEG) and 2, 2-dichloroacetyl chloride is used to initiate the atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene. A series of H-type block copolymers are obtained. And the resulting macroinitiator and block copolymers are characterized.
