Light weight solutions in aviation are increasingly based on the use of composite materials, which is mainly due to the very high specific und tailored mechanical properties. In this context, carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP) play a significant role. However, the costs for raw materials, fibre fabrics and manufacturing processes and the demand on energy for the production of carbon fibres are comparatively high. The present paper deals with an energy, resource and cost efficient technology that enables the reuse of recycled carbon long fibres for secondary structure components of commercial aircraft. © Carl Hanser Verlag, München.
