A world-class international specialty products plant manufacturing the chemical 1,4-butanediol (BDO) in Lima, Ohio, USA recently joined with automation suppliers in a technology demonstrator for Foundation Fieldbus (FF) HSE and associated hardware. Throughout, the project provided valuable, real-world experience for end-users seeking to replace proprietary control systems with an open, interoperable fieldbus architecture enabling robust, reliable control at the field level.
